My mom has always been there for me. Sure, everyone says that, but my mom has literally always been there. She gave up her career as an elementary school teacher to raise me as a stay-at-home-mom from day one. My mom was there for every moment of my life, from teaching me to walk to teaching me to read, and of course teaching me how to do laundry before sending me off to college.
I guess growing up I never fully realized how much my mom had sacrificed to raise my sister and me, simply because that was the way it always was. She got up in the morning to make us breakfast before school, and greeted us at the door every day when we got home with a snack. She drove us to countless extra curricular activities and friends’ houses without hesitation. Looking back on it all today, I realize just how lucky I was to have a mom that went out of her way to make us happy no matter what.
My mom gave me the world growing up. I can’t even begin to imagine how different my life would be without her alongside each step of the way. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve only appreciated everything she’s done and continues to do more and more with each passing day. Her relentless care, support, and love have made me the woman I am today, and I can’t begin to thank her enough for that.
So thanks, mom. You’re the best. Seriously.
