Celeb Nude Photo Leak – Why The Hacker Isn’t The Only One At Fault

Celebrities: they’re constantly in the spotlight, no matter how hard they try to avoid it. The downside to this is that celebrities are ultimately just people like you and me. Living a “normal” life is nearly impossible for famous stars, even if they think they can find a way around it.

Everyone has been talking about the massive amounts of celebrity nude photos that were leaked a few days ago by an unknown hacker. I’ve seen articles all over giving reasons why this is so “wrong” and such an “invasion of privacy” and to an extent I agree; however, I don’t think the hacker is the only one at fault in this situation.

There are a lot of unclear details about the situation, which I’m not going to even try to get into. The bottom line here is this: if you don’t want people to see a naked picture of you, don’t take one. There’s no way otherwise with the power and capabilities of the Internet to 100% ensure that these photos won’t be found / leaked / distributed in the future. images

It amazes me that of all people celebrities would take this risk – they are already under extreme watch 24/7 just for being famous… So obviously their nudes are of more “worth” in a sense that those of “normal” people.

Yes, I understand these pictures weren’t intended to be seen by the general public.
Yes, I understand that these celebrities have a right to be angry (to an extent). Who wouldn’t be?
No, I don’t think it’s okay to blame only the hacker.
No, I don’t think that these celebrities should make excuses.

Whether all of the images are legitimate or not is up for debate, but some celebrities have released statements. In my opinion, this is the best option. Denying it won’t do any good, and neither will ignoring it. Owning up to your mistakes is the only way to handle the situation maturely.

The FBI is currently investigating the situation and hopes to find the hacker soon. I think we can all learn a lesson from this though – don’t take naked pictures, and if you do, do it with caution. It’s important to understand that these images have the potential to resurface without your consent. If you don’t want anyone to see them and/or spread them, it’s probably in your best interest to avoid the situation all together.

The Internet is a dangerous place for everyone – no matter how famous you are.
